Charles Allen Tippit, oldest son of Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit, has died of cancer at age 64.
He had been in poor health for over a year and was being cared for at his mother's Oak Cliff home when he passed away Thursday afternoon.
Allen, who was the first child born in Red River County, Texas, on January 1, 1950, was 13-years-old on November 22, 1963, when his father was gunned down on an Oak Cliff side-street shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
High-spirited and troubled as a youth, he turned to his family and his renewed faith in Christianity in later years for comfort, support, and guidance.
Cremation and a memorial service are planned.
He is survived by three sons; his mother, Marie; sister Brenda; brother Curtis (Betty Jo), six nieces; one nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Very sad news, indeed.
More heartbreak for Marie and her family to endure.
My thoughts go to Allen’s own sons, his mother Marie, sister Brenda and brother Curtis at this very sad time.

May he rest in peace.
